WWV carried out the mechanical scope of work as well as comprehensive pipeline construction as part of the scheduled shutdown of the SGHP and PGP facilities at the Shell Pernis refinery. In addition, work on columns was carried out.
During the preparation of the project, the spread of the corona virus in the Netherlands as well as in neighbouring countries led to considerable restrictions on social and economic life. The Shell SGHP Turnaround was one of the first and one of the few major shutdowns in Europe that were carried out as planned and under highly demanding hygiene and health conditions during the peak phase of the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2020.
Following the motto “We stand together because we keep social distance”, WWV realised a hygiene and safety concept in close cooperation with the customer and other partners. In many respects, this concept set standards for projects throughout Europe, which were to follow in the coming months under similarly difficult conditions.
